COURSE DESCRIPTION
Main learning outcomes:
Specific knowledge in computer science refers to: computer architectures and operational systems, computer networks, cyber security, databases, programming languages, web technologies, software engineering and mathematics for computer science, which are the required mandatory foundation for a bachelor’s degree in the professional stream.
The practical skills acquired by students are aimed at: developing web applications using modern programming languages and technologies, interfaces oriented to the needs of different users, applying different paradigms and patterns of object-oriented and functional programming in work, quick orientation in a specific IT business environment and application of generally accepted standards for teamwork. In addition to courses related to computer science, students also study others in the field of management and economics.
In accordance with the European Framework of Competences and the National Qualification Framework, the education of students in the “Informatics and Computer Sciences” major stimulates the development of transferable competencies for: teamwork, working in a digital environment, working in mixed teams, innovative thinking. and application of new technologies in solving various problems;
Personal competences: responsibility, independence, correctness, efficiency, initiative; communication, resistance to stress, ability to communicate with different professional groups; motivation and striving for continuous improvement of professional qualification and learning of new technologies.
Learning Competences: Consistently assess their own qualifications by assessing the knowledge and skills acquired to date and plan for the need to expand and update their professional qualifications.
Professional competences: The acquired skills cover all the necessary activities of designing, developing, testing and maintaining software systems, as well as designing, building and maintaining an environment for the work of software teams, as well as experts from various fields of activity, working primarily in a digital environment, use of IT technologies in solving problems of various professional spheres.
The structure and content of the curriculum allows within the framework of the undergraduate study in the specialty, the simultaneous acquisition of a second specialty, with the aim of realizing the student in new hybrid positions and professions.
REQUIREMENTS
- An Application form addressed to the Rector of VFU with brief biographical data, the courses of study and the educational-and-qualification degree, which they are applying for a copy of the document for completed secondary education, and of the appendix thereof with the grades, or a document issued by a competent authority for recognition of a degree of education. The minimum average grade from the academic disciplines in the document for completed secondary education, which form the admission rating score, cannot be lower than 62 % of the maximum value under the evaluation system in the country where the secondary education was acquired.
- A document issued by a competent authority, certifying that the candidate is entitled to continue his/her education at the higher education institutions in the country where the secondary education was acquired.
- A document issued by a competent authority, certifying that the holder of the document has been enrolled as a student at a higher education institution.
- An academic transcript – for students applying also with recognition of periods of study, completed at foreign higher education institutions.
- A medical certificate issued no earlier than one month before the date of applying. It has to be certified by the respective authorities in the home country of the applicant – only for PhD.
- A copy of the citizenship documents – for the applicants with dual citizenship, one of which is Bulgarian.
- A document for proficiency in the language of teaching in the prospective course of study – for the applicants who will not go through language or specialized training.
- 4 colour photographs – 3,5/4,5 cm.
